Get to Know Your Placewise Peep: Narina Seferyan

Name: Narina Seferyan

Position: Account Manager

Hometown: Sochi, Russia

Education: I went to Colorado State University – GO RAMS! I got my degree in marketing, and I’m so glad I am actually using my degree. Unlike some people.

How long have you worked at Placewise? I’ve been at PlaceWise for almost 2 years – April 13th will be my 2-year anniversary actually!

How long have you been in Denver? Well, I’ve been in Colorado since 1997. My mom moved me here from Russia for the American Dream – you know, a better life – and now I’m livin’ it. Been here ever since. I grew up in Aurora, which is a suburb of Denver, but I moved to downtown Denver right after college. So, I’ve been here about three years now. I always knew I’d move back down to Denver after school, and I also knew that I wasn’t going to move back in with my mom. I did my best to find a job in Denver, and I actually got one a week after signing my lease. So, thankfully it worked out.

What is your favorite bar in Denver? You know, there’s just so many to choose from. But I think right now, one of my favorite bars is Tom’s Urban. That’s a really good one. It’s like a block away from our office, it’s super close. And my friend’s uncle is Tom… So, kind of a big deal. When she goes with me I get good discounts.

Where’s your favorite place to vacation in Colorado? I wish I could say I like to hike and stuff. But I don’t. And I don’t camp either. I wish I did. But no. I go to the mountains maybe once a year, sorry. My favorite thing to do in Colorado is definitely hang outside in the sun, go to the pool – I do like to swim! But vacation-wise in Colorado? I guess go to the hot springs, that’s fun. But I’m still a city gal.

What’s your favorite social media platform? Currently, it’s Snapchat. It just keeps evolving and they are just really doing something right over there. All of the filters are SO fun, and I like that we have been able to incorporate Snapchat into our business and design filters for malls. Snapchat is just the ‘funnest’ right now. It really is!

Summer or winter? Oh summer for sure. Duh.

Beer or wine? Wine, definitely wine. I mean, wine not? No, but really… Wine just cuz I like it so much and it goes down so easy. Oh, and it’s DELICIOUS. I’m really trying to get back into the reds right now. I was doing whites for like, the last couple years. Well, for the last six years… So yeah, trying to get more into reds.

Coffee or tea? Coffee. Tea does nothing. Tea is good if you’re, like, trying to detox. That’s it. That’s all I’d ever use tea for. Coffee all the way.

Pancakes or waffles? Um, definitely waffles. Pancakes are boring. Also waffles save the syrup for you. And the butter. So they’re better.

Qdoba or Chipotle? Chipotle, obviously. The flavor of their chicken is the same at every Chipotle and I just love the chicken. And I love it when they have a heavy hand with the chicken and give me extra, EXTRA chicken. That’s just the best.

Dogs or cats? I used to have a cat when I was in high school. Her name was Marcy – my mom named her. Her Russian name was ‘Marusa’ which means little whiner because she whined so much. It was so annoying. But I was a total cat person. I LOVED cats. I would just pick up stray cats all the time. One time one clawed me in the face, so I learned my lesson there. But I do love dogs as well. I actually helped raise one – little Charlie, my friend’s dog. He’s come into the office a couple times now. So, now I am really more of a dog person. Plus, all my friends are allergic to cats, so getting another cat one day will just never happen for me.

Favorite Placewise moment? My favorite PlaceWise moment… You know, there’s just been so many great memories, but I really think this last holiday party was especially memorable. We were just all together as a company, which was really special, and we had some good bonding time. We went to this sort of puzzle-slash-escape room challenge place thingy, and it was so much fun because we all got to work on a challenge together outside of work. It was just so, so much fun.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Right now, I really want to go to Greece. The blue, blue water… SO pretty. I’ve never been out of the country – except for Mexico – since I moved here from Russia in ’97, so I definitely want to go somewhere, you know, across the pond.

If you could have one super power what would it be? To be invincible! Oh wait… INVISIBLE. To be invisible! Sorry. Those are two completely different things. It’s the language, you guys. Foreign language. English is still technically foreign to me, let’s be real. No I’m just kidding, I’m totally bilingual. But anyways, yes – I’d totally be invisible just because I like to spy and know what’s going on. I just like to know things. But I don’t want people to know that I know things. You know?!
